Calamity Jane (1953) – Film-a-Day 138

Doris Day shines as Calamity Jane, a refreshing and progressive musical that is not only upbeat but also well ahead of its time. I’m not a massive fan of musicals in general, I often find the songs too long (particularly ballads) and distracting from the overall story.
